Jack Ruby

Among the less championed rings of New York’s already deeply obscure early Zero Wave scene, Jack port Ruby was a wildly damaged proto-punk music group sporadically dynamic between 1973 and 1977. Called following the nightclub owner who shot and wiped out Lee Harvey Oswald, the music group was composed of vocalist Robbie Hall, guitarist Chris Grey, bassist George Scott, keyboardist Randy Cohen, viola participant Boris Policeband, and a drummer who proceeded to go by just Nick. Jack port Ruby’s loud, pre-punk skronk paved just how for downtown mutant rockers like Teenage Jesus & the Jerks and DNA, but early contemporaries had been brittle, challenging works like Suicide, Stainless, and a small number of Cleveland weirdo punk works like the Electric powered Eels, the Styrenes, or Rocket in the Tombs. Hardly any documented proof Jack Ruby’s life surfaced throughout their brief life expectancy. No albums had been ever released throughout their short run and it had been fabled the music group only ever performed five live gigs. Players continued to activate in acts just like the Contortions and 8 Eyed Spy, amongst others, using their legacy developing as time passes as obscurist historians like Sonic Youth’s Thurston Moore and Byron Coley heralded the music group in various content articles and essays. In 2011, NY severe musician Weasel Walter procured an archival tape with eight music of Jack port Ruby’s materials and released it within a remastered type on his UgExplode label. 3 years afterwards Hit & Work, a two-disc retrospective including a lot of the band’s known recordings, materialized over the Saint Cecilia Has learned label.
