Free Music Quintet

A completely descriptively named group, the Free of charge Music Quintet recorded one recording for ESP-Disk in 1968. The quintet included reedsman Peter vehicle der Locht, trumpeter Boy Raaymakers, violinist Erwin Somer, and bassist Ferdy Rikkers, most of whom doubled on percussion, and was led by Dutch percussionist Pierre Courbois, whose set of credits by that point already included classes and displays with John Coltrane, Kenny Clarke, Bud Powell, Lol Coxhill, Johnny Griffin, and Mal Waldron. The producing album is among the most uncompromising free of charge jazz outings ever documented. Although the entire quintet never documented together once again, Courbois continued employed in different incarnations with a lot of the other members.
