Frank Strazzeri

A good pianist long located in the LA area, Frank Strazzeri was popular for straight-ahead classes for many years. Although he originally began playing tenor and clarinet when he was 12, Strazzeri quickly turned to piano. After their studies at the Eastman College, he became the home pianist at a jazz golf club in Rochester in 1952, where he could accompany best jazz performers (including Roy Eldridge and Billie Vacation). In 1954, Strazzeri relocated to New Orleans, where he performed Dixieland with Sharkey Bonano and Al Hirt. That, nevertheless, was only a short-term departure, for he was constantly a bop-based participant. Strazzeri caused Charlie Ventura (1957-1958) and Woody Herman (1959), before settling completely in LA in 1960. He became a studio room musician, made an appearance on many classes and caused the who’s who of Western Coastline jazz. Strazzeri experienced possibilities to tour with Joe Williams and Maynard Ferguson, and was with Les Brown’s big music group from 1971-1974. Among his additional musical associations had been Terry Gibbs, Plant Ellis, the Lighthouse All-Stars, Artwork Pepper, Bud Shank, Cal Tjader, Louie Bellson, and Chet Baker, among numerous others, furthermore to dealing with his personal trios. Like a leader, Strazzeri going classes for Revelation, Glendale, Ocean Breeze, Catalyst, Finding, and Fresh Audio.
