A trio of underground synth pop reinventors comparable to Cool Cave and Silk Bouquets, Former Spirits was formed by vocalist/keyboardist/programmer Freddy Ruppert, formerly of the Song Is chaos But Thus Am We, and features Xiu Xiu’s Jamie Stewart (vocals, synths) and Zola Jesus’ Niko Roza (vocals). The group performed their initial tour in springtime 2009, which summertime announced that their debut record was along the way. Fleurs premiered that fall by Upset the Tempo.
