Ulele

The remarkably eclectic world pop band Ulele may be the brainchild of Chicago-based multi-instrumentalist Winston Damon, whose wide-ranging music talents were previously employed by the favorite Celt-rock group the Drovers. Damon was mainly a drummer and percussionist for the Drovers, but Ulele offered him an opportunity to demonstrate the entire selection of his capabilities. Implementing the stage name Rock, Damon got on frontman responsibilities for his fresh band. Furthermore to singing business lead vocals and offering percussion, he creates a lot of the tracks and has trombone, piano, hammond b-3, marimba, electrical bass, national electric guitar, key pad bass, flute, snare, and fife. He also designed and constructed the world’s initial electric powered cello. Stone’s wife, who telephone calls herself Laina’ala, also sings business lead vocals and performs electric guitar and flute. The lineup behind the few has truly gone through many adjustments because the band’s inception, but regular associates have got included Sonny Doyle on electric guitar, Aaron Kohnen on bass, Tony DiMartino on drums, Josh Sinton on alto and baritone sax, and Dan Stark on trombone. Ulele attracts much musical motivation, aswell as its name (pronounced “oo-lay-lay,” this means “step into actions”), from Hawaii. But their full of energy, danceable sound, making heavy usage of brass instrumentation, also pulls intensely from ska, salsa, Mardi Gras/Carnival, and African affects. The music group released its initial album, Seed, independently Ulele Arts label in 1996. Tranquility implemented in 1999.
