Flora Molton

b. 1908, Virginia, USA, d. 31 Might 1990, Washington DC, USA. Molton started preaching at age 17, not taking on acoustic guitar until 1943, when she relocated to Washington DC. Practically blind, she backed herself by playing in the roads. From 1963, she produced appearances around the folk circuit, and was later on signed with a Western record organization when she frequented European countries in 1987. Her slip acoustic guitar playing in ‘Vastopol’ (open up D) was fundamental but extreme, owing much towards the blues whose verbal content material she fiercely declined. Her delivery was generally similar to an unsophisticated Sister Rosetta Tharpe, particularly if Molton was aided by even more skilful musicians.
