Fire on Blonde

Based in LA, Open fire on Blonde was an obscure dance-pop/urban contemporary group that documented some noteworthy singles in the 1980s. Open fire on Blonde was created in 1985, when vocalist/celebrity Suzie Benson became a member of causes with keyboardist Jim Vukovich. Both had known one another since 1983 and have been members of the cover band known as Atsui. Neither Benson nor Vukovich had been L.A. natives; the big-voiced Benson was created in Cherry Stage, NC, in 1964 but was raised in Baltimore and Sacramento, while Vukovich was originally from Waukegan, IL, near Chicago. After carrying out in L.A. night clubs for a couple of years, Open fire on Blonde caught the interest of Atlantic Information, who released the group’s 1st single, “Quit and Believe,” in 1986. The next year, Vukovich remaining the group and was changed by Swedish keyboardist Scott Rudgress. The Benson/Rudgress release of Open fire on Blonde documented two 12″ singles in 1987: “Incorrect Quantity” on Atlantic and “Jump Back” around the TSR-distributed Spinn label. Both tunes had been written and made by Michael Jay, who utilized them another period when he created dance-pop vocalist Alisha’s Bounce Back again record for MCA in 1990. Although most of its singles had been infectious, Fireplace on Blonde didn’t became popular and never arrived with an record. In 1988, the group split up.
