Dédé St. Prix

A hands drummer, bamboo flutist, and songwriter, St. Prix is among the rootsmen of Martinique. After stints as percussionist in lots of local rings (including E+, Malavoi, and Pakatak), he shaped his own music group, Avan Vehicle, in the first 80s and hasn’t looked back again. His pioneer attempts had been in the melding of zouk noises having a rural musical custom known as chouval bwa. Like a songwriter he offers lent his attempts to a number of tasks, achieving a pinnacle with an exceptionally funky cut known as “Amazon” that made an appearance on Joelle Ursull’s Dark French record. Mi Se Sa, re-issued on Mango Information, may be the most electrical and not one of the most indicative of the full total recorded result of St. Prix, despite the fact that it’s apt to be easy and simple to find.
