An achieved 6- and 12-string guitarist, the musician pursued a concurrent single profession with two compulsive nation blues albums for Elektra Information. The initial included interpretations of materials by, amongst others, Muddy Waters, Robert Johnson and Lead Tummy, as the follow-up highlighted a greater focus on first materials. The rise of electrical designs obscured Ray’s improvement and it had been 1968 before he re-emerged in Bamboo, a country-based duo he previously shaped with pianist Will Donight. Their eccentric record made small impression and Ray’s following profile was distinctly low-key. Nevertheless, in 1990 Ray and Glover teamed up to record Ashes IN MY OWN Whiskey for the Tough Trade Information label, and Koerner, Ray And Glover reunited release a the wonderful One Feet In The Groove in 1996. Ray also documented with pianist John Seaside and percussionist Kory Badertscher as the Three Bedroom Ramblers, and teamed up with Tony Glover, and Camile Baudoin and Reggie Scanlan from the Radiators in the trunk Porch Rockers. In 2000, Ray shaped 6L6 with Jeff Dagenhardt and David Kasik and documented A Hollowbody Knowledge. He succumbed to lung tumor in November 2002.
