Chip White

An excellent drummer who performs in advanced jazz configurations, Chip White colored can be a talented composer. He began monitoring percussion when he was nine. White colored attended Ithaca University, studied in the Berklee College of Music and later on got orchestration and organizing lessons from Frank Foster. In the ’70s,’80s and ’90s, he used many best jazz music artists including Carmen McRae, Jaki Byard, John Abercrombie, Johnny Coles, Enrico Rava, Mulgrew Miller, Gary Bartz and John Hicks, documenting with most of them. He produced the Chip Light Outfit in 1984, created a jazz musical (Manhattan Occasions) in 1990 and toured using the Houston Person-Etta Jones Quintet. In 1994, Chip Light documented Harlem Sunset (for Postcards), his debut established as a head.
