Charlie Parr

Minnesota root base musician Charlie Parr is focused on the blues and folk customs of a youthful era. Raised over the music of Charley Patton, Lead Tummy, Rev. Gary Davis, and Woody Guthrie, Parr’s blue training collar upbringing in the town of Austin, Minnesota (house of Hormel Foods and SPAM) and its own rural environment are shown in his existence and musical designs. He started his profession in Duluth within the traditional western shoreline of Lake First-class, where he documented his 2002 debut Bad guys & Sinners. On the following decade, he’d continue to make use of Duluth as his house foundation, touring regionally and nationally, documenting his exclusive albums in uncommon areas (warehouses, garages, living spaces, storefronts), often utilizing classic or lo-fi ways to catch his mixture of traditional blues, folk, and spirituals together with his personal powerful tracks. In 2008, his music “1922 Blues,” from his second recording 1922, was found in a Vodafone industrial in Australia and New Zealand and became a shock success. He offers since enjoyed several successful trips and produces in Australia, where this year 2010 three of his tracks were found in the Australian traditional western film Crimson Hill.
