The B Clear Quartet made a solid impression making use of their recordings for the MAMA Base label. Comprising drummer Supplement Graham, Jr., Randall Willis on reeds, pianist Eliot Douglass (afterwards changed by Rodney Lee), and bassist Reggie Carson, the L.A.-structured group played out advanced hard bop that looks toward the avant-garde but always swings.
