Arnie Lawrence

Despite a prolific documenting job as both a leader so that as a sideman, alto saxophonist Arnie Lawrence produced his most long lasting contributions to jazz as an educator, founding the jazz plan at NY City’s New College University and afterwards starting the Jerusalem-based International Center for Creative Music, an application that welcomed music artists of both Jewish and Arab descent. Blessed in Brooklyn, NY, on July 10, 1938, Lawrence initial examined clarinet. In the same nature, he often performed alongside Israeli and Palestinian music artists at the Western Bank golf club the Flamingo, and in addition operated his personal nightspot, Arnie’s Jazz Underground. After an extended bout with lung and liver organ cancer, Lawrence passed away in Jerusalem on Apr 22, 2005.
