Zwan

Following dissolution from the Smashing Pumpkins in December 2000 and a short stint moonlighting with New Purchase, Billy Corgan quietly come up with his first official post-Pumpkins task in late 2001, a quartet referred to as Zwan. And in addition, Corgan opted to enlist on drums his longtime musical foil and innovative spark plug Jimmy Chamberlin, using the other half from the lineup curved out with guitarist Matt Sweeney (previously of Chavez and Skunk) and guitarist/bassist David Pajo (previously of Slint and Tortoise). The group surreptitiously debuted in November 2001 with some four small membership displays in the Los Angeles/San Diego region, followed by a short jaunt through the Midwest the next month. Each one of these two mini-tours boasted a completely different group of music, hinting on the prosperity of material which the prolific band acquired already exercised in their couple of months jointly. In Apr 2002, Zwan morphed right into a quintet by adding bassist Paz Lenchantin (of AN IDEAL Circle popularity), who became a member of the group with time for some displays in St. Louis and Corgan’s hometown of Chicago. These schedules featured yet another group of music, not the same as the prior two, bringing the full total variety of music in Zwan’s repertoire up in to the community of 60. After inking a cope with Reprise, Zwan released their initial single, “Truthfully”, in November 2002. Sadly, the life span of Zwan was temporary. Founding member Billy Corgan annouced the band’s split up in Sept 2003, adding that his “center is at Smashing Pumpkins.”
