Yuk. may be the saving alias of Los Angeles-based experimental hip-hop maker Chad Valencia, co-founder of DJ/designer collective My Hollow Drum. His abstract audio constructions feature hazy, smudgy atmospheres and splintered beats, frequently incorporating found noises and organic instrumentation. He includes a solid choice for analog gear and press over digital, and greatly uses cassette recorders in the creation of his music. After starting My Hollow Drum in 2007 with fellow defeat junkies including Teebs and Bahwee, yuk. released his debut cassette A D W A this year 2010, with Matthewdavid’s Departing Records providing the recording its digital launch. The following 12 months, yuk. released Of Wildermess, an electronic mixtape offering remixes and collaborations with many L.A. defeat picture regulars, including Knxwledge, Devonwho, and Ras G. Yuk. made an appearance on scene-surveying compilations on Dublab, Rocks Throw, and Shedding Gems and made an appearance on albums and mixes by Mndsgn and Teebs, furthermore to co-founding Filipino cafe LASA along with his sibling Run after Valencia in 2014.
