Yancey Boys

Not really much a group being a one-off task, Yancey Children is a tribute towards the later J Dilla featuring the Detroit hip-hop producer’s young sibling, John “Illa J” Yancey, as well as Dilla’s longtime friend and frequent collaborator Frank Nitt. The name was initially found in 2008 when Illa J’s debut record, Yancey Boys, premiered featuring Dilla’s is better than. In 2013, Nitt and Illa became a member of jointly as Yancey Children for the “Quicksand” one offering Common. The project’s debut record, Sunset Blvd., appeared later that calendar year with guest performances from Talib Kweli, De La Soul’s Posdnous, Guilty Simpson, among others.
