Home / Biography / Weedfreak

Weedfreak came jointly when several young music artists met while surviving in Tokyo in the mid-’90s. Guitarist Hideki Takahata, bassist/vocalist Mike Gulvin (originally from London), and guitarist/vocalist Vincent Nikopol (from NY) began as an acoustic trio known as the Grapefruit Minds, playing coffeehouse gigs with the city’s Matsuri celebration. The music group grew right into a quintet by adding guitarist Chris “Crocodile” Grundy and drummer Ichinosuke Tabuchi, playing from region clubs towards the subways. Dec 1997 brought the discharge of Methadone, the band’s first record as Weedfreak.
