Chris Bathgate

Chris Bathgate is a celebrated vocalist/songwriter whose stark, heartbroken tunes (similar in firmness to the people of Can Oldham or Damien Jurado) earned him a solid community following throughout Southeast Michigan. Bathgate was raised in Pecatonica, Illinois and began playing music when he was 16, investing in a few years with much metal band prior to going single in 2001. Ultimately relocating to Ann Arbor, Michigan to wait the University or college of Michigan, Bathgate released his following solitary in 2002, Twilight Unlimited, and his second recording, Create and Consume, the next year. It had been at this time that he began using Michael Beauchamp and Karl Sturk within an aged timey-tinged folk trio known as the Ambitious Brothers. The group released a few information, Ambitious Brothers I and Ambitious Brothers II, over another couple of years, and disbanded in 2005 when Sturk relocated to NY. In 2005 Bathgate caused the short-lived Descent from the Holy Ghost Chapel, including Beauchamp furthermore to regional indie music artists Jansen Swy, Matt Jones, Louis Dickinson, and Carol Grey. The group disbanded in 2006, and Bathgate continued to self-release two albums (The Solitary Road I MISS and Throatsleep) and an EP (AN IN DEPTH Accounts of Three Dreams). He was found from the Ann Arbor-based indie label Quite Scientific Information immediately after, and his 1st launch on that label, A Cork Story Wake, found its way to the summertime of 2007. Following the track “Serpentine” received constant airplay on BBC Radio 2, A Cork Story Wake premiered in the U.K. by One Small Indian. Bathgate’s profession in the U.K. and European countries became popular, and he toured frequently as a single take action and on the event circuit. A fresh EP, Wait around, Skeleton, premiered in 2008, and after a string of singles, he released the recording Salt 12 months in 2011. In the summertime of 2012, Bathgate announced he was going for a sabbatical from your music business, and it wasn’t until 2014 that he resumed offering live shows. In Feb 2016, Bathgate released his initial documenting in five years, an EP entitled Old Stock. May 2016 brought a full-length record, Dizzy Seas, including the tune “Northern Country Path,” a tune predicated on Bathgate’s own encounters while walking in North Michigan. Bathgate also conceived and aimed a video for the tune.
