The Sights

The Places’ lead guitarist/vocalist Eddie Baranek and bassist Tag Leahey (who both share songwriting and vocal duties) have already been playing music together because the age of 13, forming this music group at the start of the senior year of senior high school. They performed their first displays collectively in early 1998. Baranek and Leahey had been still beneath the age group of 18 at that time, and weren’t old enough to keep in mind firsthand the rings that appear to have had the largest influence in it, including edgy past due-’70s punk/brand-new wave acts just like the Buzzcocks and early Jam, and certainly didn’t remember those rings’ affects: British isles mods just like the early Who or the Creation. In past due 1999, drummer Eugene Strobe emerged on board, changing some drummers, adding a raucously outrageous Keith Moon-like quality with their live shows. The fresh trio recorded music for the debut album, HAVE YOU BEEN Green?, at Jim Diamond’s Ghetto Recorders that same season. The record was released in 2000 by Spectator Information, but the little Detroit-based indie folded a couple days soon after. Fall of Rome Information in LA reissued HAVE YOU BEEN Green? in 2001, along with the Places’ 2002 follow-up, Got What WE WISH. Three years later on, the music group released a self-titled recording on New Collection/Scratchie. The music group returned this year 2010 using the release of all of HERE ARE SOME Is True.
