The Original Gospel Harmonettes

Known as a perfect influence by a minimum of Small Richard, the Birmingham, AL-based Original Gospel Harmonettes had been among the best & most successful feminine gospel sets of the 1950s. These were led by soloist Dorothy Like Coates, who also made up a lot of their best-known choices, and their music transcended its religious foundations to attract a secular globe for the threshold from the civil privileges era. Regardless of the group’s tremendous reputation, by the finish of the 10 years both Edwards and Kalb acquired retired aswell, and from 1959 to 1961 the Harmonettes had been inactive; throughout that period, Coates was reborn like a civil privileges activist, often dealing with Martin Luther Ruler.
