The Occasion

A short-lived music group from the brand new York area, the Occasion released two well-received and well-respected albums within their period, and drew evaluations to such performers as Brian Wilson, Red Floyd, and John Cale. After having resolved on the lineup and their positions, the Event started to play and tweak with the idea of a frontperson hogging the limelight. Vocals became even more of a label group affair, with pianist Brent Cordero, guitarist Jordi Wheeler, and drummer Charles Burst each tackling the task in rotation. Rounding out the regular membership of the Event had been Sara Shaw on tape loops and percussion, and Marlon Sporer on bass. Their 1st album, The Event, premiered in 2004. Their second, Cannery Hours, adopted in 2005. The music group dissolved immediately after, with Sporer shifting to Jeremiah Rifles, Shaw obtaining a location in Effi Briest, and Wheeler and Burst both posting musical activities with Mike Wexler.
