The Meligrove Band

Landing somewhere within the energy pop of fellow Canadians Sloan as well as the piano-led rock and roll of Ben Folds, the Meligrove Strap were put together in Ontario in 1997 by high-school students Jason Nunes (vocals, guitar, piano), Michael Small (bass), Rick Gomes (drums), and Darcy Rego (who later turned from guitar to drums following the departure of Gomes in 2001). The band’s 1st album, Celebrities & Guitars, premiered through Ductape Information in 2000, accompanied by the erratic ALLOW IT Grow in 2002. Later on that 12 months, the band converted into a four-piece with the help of Andrew Scott (never to end up being baffled with Andrew Scott of Sloan), previously an associate Femme Fatale. In the meantime, another two people of Femme Fatale, Sebastien Grainger and Jesse F. Keeler, shaped Loss of life from Above 1979. In 2005, the Meligrove Music group became the very first work from Canada to indication a worldwide contract with V2. Their third record, Planets Conspire, was released in Canada in January 2006. Scott still left the lineup twelve months afterwards, with Brian O’Reilly changing him with time for the band’s 4th discharge, 2010’s Shimmering Lighting.
