The Buffalo Gals

Buffalo Gals comprised Susie Monick (banjo), Carol Siegel (mandolin/dulcimer), Martha Trachtenberg (acoustic guitar/vocals), Sue Raines (fiddle) and Nancy Josephson (bass). They began when three undergraduates at Syracuse University or college – Monick, Siegel and guitarist Debby Gabriel – created an old-time bluegrass trio. Gabriel remaining to focus on artwork and Trachtenberg and Josephson had been recruited. By 1974 Raines is at the line-up as well as the group was playing night clubs and celebrations. The music group relocated to Nashville in 1976 and Siegel and Raines had been changed by Lainie Lyle and Kristin Wilkinson, respectively. Monick released a single recording, Melting Pot, as well as the music group folded in 1979. Within the 90s, Monick performed mandolin and accordion for Richard Dobson’s music group State FROM THE Heart.
