Having a cosmically freaked-out mixture of mind-expanding psychedelia and sludgy doom, Portland, Oregon duo Taurus are out to blow thoughts and speakers with equal abandon. Comprising Dark Castle’s Stevie Floyd and Crimson Rhinestone Eagle’s Ashley Spungin, the set evokes the extremely ambitious and creative sound of rings like Globe and Harvey Dairy, pressing doom into otherworldly territories with sprawling, avant-garde leanings. With an assortment of grimy, glacial electric guitar riffs, pounding drums, and enigmatic examples, Taurus’ sound produces its abstract atmosphere that tries to defy custom at every convert. Their debut record, Lifestyle, was self-released with the set in 2012.
