Tabby Western was the united states & traditional western alias of Nashville pop singer Phyllis Spain, a indigenous of Kingston Springs, Tennessee. After a stint on Nashville’s WSM she toured using the Jack port Gregory Orchestra before marrying bandleader Crimson Wortham, whose personal orchestra she became a member of soon after. With time, Wortham migrated into creation and music posting, and when contacted by Decca A&R exec Paul Wells to discover a Kitty Wells-type nation vocalist, he recommended his wife, who used the alias Tabby Western to record her 1953 debut solitary “I REALLY LIKE You A great deal to Keep You.” “They Accused Me” and “I REALLY LIKE Everybody” soon adopted, but West didn’t attract much interest at radio, and after yet another Decca solitary, 1954’s “Send Someone Like Joe,” the label shuttled her to its Coral subsidiary, where she teamed with maker Owen Bradley for singles including “My Daddy Remaining My Mommy Once again” and “Forbidden Fruits.” She also combined with singer Tx Bill Power for the duet “You Can’t Possess My Like,” a hit that however failed to preserve her position within the Coral roster.
