Joshua Horowitz

Joshua Horowitz has taken a fresh view to the original eastern Euro Jewish dance music. The receiver of numerous awards and grants or loans in structure and musicology, Horowitz provides mixed his virtuosic instrumental abilities with the interest of the inquisitive ethnomusicologist. Performing on the three row chromatic key accordion, built-in 1889 by Karl Budowitz, and tsimbal, a Hungarian hammered dulcimer, Horowitz provides explored the entire spectral range of Jewish music. While he performs early Jewish instrumental music with clarinet participant Joel Rubin of intensifying klezmer music group, Brave Old Globe, he’s taken a far more contemporary approach along with his shows with Brave Aged Globe and Alicia Svigals. Horowitz provides performed avant garde Jewish music along with his music group, Budowitz, offering Merlin Shepherd (clarinet, flute, saxophone), Laszlo Main (violin), Tomas Gombal (violin) and Zsolt Kurtosi (cello). Horowitz, who retains a masters level in structure and musicology in the Academy of Music in Graz, Austria, provides lectured thoroughly for the Klezmer Music RESEARCH STUDY. Furthermore to compiling and editing a Judeo-Spanish songbook, released by Peters Posting, Horowitz has created many articles in the counterpoint of Johann Sebastian Bach. Horowitz constructed the rating for the Czechoslavakian film, Pevny Bod.
