Starfighters

This UK hard rock/boogie quintet was formed in 1980 by ex-Suburban Studs vocalist Steve Burton and guitarist Stevie Young (cousin of AC/DC’s Angus Young). With Pat Hambly (acoustic guitar), Doug Dennis (bass) and Steve Bailey (drums, ex-Holly AS WELL AS THE Italians) completing the line-up, these were found by Jive Documents in 1981, after having toured with AC/DC. Made by Tony Platt, their debut recording was seen as a raunchy rock and roll ‘n’ move, with abrasive, up-front acoustic guitar work from Youthful. However, at greatest they were an unhealthy guy’s AC/DC, focusing on second-hand riffs, hackneyed vocals along with a predictable backbeat. On In Airline flight Movie, they attempted desperately to go away from this process, concentrating rather on even more traditional blues-based hard rock and roll. Unfortunately this fresh style had actually much less to commend it, plus they broke up immediately after the record’s launch.
