Former Actions Painting! users Andy Hitchcock and Kevin Home teamed up with Axel Amicabile and Julien Kokot to create Socialist Amusement Party in 2006. A fiery, jangly indie pop ensemble, shot through with psychedelic sound and arch lyrics (shipped inside a deadpan, nose caterwaul by frontman Hitchcock), Socialist Amusement Party welcomed evaluations to old-school functions like Orange Juice, Josef K, as well as the Treatment. The music group was eventually induced board from the Oregon-based label Shelflife, and its own debut EP, Tactical Pop! For Espresso Cadets, arrived on that label in the springtime of 2009.
