Sleeping in the Aviary

Self-consciously quirky indie rock trio Sleeping in the Aviary played its first gigs within their hometown of Madison, WI, in the springtime of 2004. A high-energy group with brand-new wave leanings highly similar to early XTC and Speaking Minds before they found out Brian Eno as well as the non-esuch Explorer series, Sleeping in the Aviary also includes a collection in occasionally valuable, studiedly “wacky” lyrics commensurate with the nonsensical music group name. Based round the primary duo of vocalist and guitarist Elliott Kozel and bassist and keyboardist Phil Mahlstadt, Sleeping in the Aviary experienced the most common parade of drummers and second guitarists before finally settling right into a last trio lineup with drummer Michael Sienkowski in 2006. Putting your signature on with regional indie Technology of Sound Information that 12 months, Sleeping in the Aviary released their debut recording, Oh, This Aged Thing?, in Feb 2007.
