Rev. Sister Mary M. Nelson

Biography

The Rev. Sister Mary M. Nelson, most likely a Pentecostal storefront preacher in Memphis, documented four edges for Vocalion through the past due ’20s (including one sermon). Sadly, little else is well known about her lifestyle. Among her recordings afterwards made an appearance on Harry Smith’s 1952 folksong compendium Anthology of American Folk Music, and all of her edges show up on the Record collection Memphis Gospel: Full Works (1927-1929).
