Peeping Tom

In 2006, after 6 years within the building, singer/producer Mike Patton (Trust FORGET ABOUT, Mr. Bungle, Tomahawk, Fantômas) added Peeping Tom to his amazing list of completed projects. Influenced by movie director Michael Powell’s 1960 cult thriller of the same name, Patton spent years sending songs to potential collaborators as varied as Amon Tobin, Bebel Gilberto, Norah Jones, Substantial Assault, and Kool Keith — the second option three all added — to create a record which was totally bereft of physical intimacy. The producing Peeping Tom, released on Patton’s personal Ipecac label, flirts using the esoteric while staying surprisingly accessible, counting on a mix portion of musical designs and performers that defies the word “genre.”
