Paul Metzger

A virtuoso on an array of stringed musical instruments, Minneapolis-based experimental/progressive folk musician Paul Metzger concentrates a lot of his creative energy on his 21-string modified banjo. Students of both Eastern and American traditional music, Metzger first made an appearance on a divide album that highlighted guitarist Ben Chasny (Six Organs of Admittance) and lauded improv drummer Chris Corsano using one aspect and Metzger’s exclusive improvisational guitar focus on another. He released the full-length Three Improvisations on Improved Banjo for Chairkickers Music in 2005, accompanied by Deliverance for the Locust label in 2007.
