Now Generation

Among the great unsung rings (or session groups) in the annals of Jamaican music. Led by Geoffrey Chung on keyboards, the music group included Mikey Chung on business lead acoustic guitar, Val Douglas on bass, Mikey ‘Boo’ Richards on drums, Robert Lynn on keyboards and Earl Lindo on body organ. They done sessions for all your top makers in the first 70s, including Derrick Harriott, Herman Chin-Loy, Ken Khouri, Sonia Pottinger, Joe Gibbs plus some from the past due Duke Reid’s reggae recordings. Their music was ‘uptown’ and soul-influenced (they protected many spirit classics), however they proved which they could offer raw roots information as well – Glen Dark brown’s better function, or Herman’s ‘Aquarius Dub’ getting notable illustrations. Their tightness and all-round panache recognized them from various other session rings at that time, but they haven’t, unfortunately, been quite as celebrated as various other less skilful clothes – perhaps due to too little present and stage function. They certainly should have much wider identification.
