Napoleon Strickland

Blessed circa 1920 close to Como, MS, Napoleon Strickland was referred to as the “fife-blowingest man in the condition of Mississippi.” He was well-known in the Southern for playing harmonica, electric guitar, and diddley-bow, some sort of poor man’s electric guitar that had only 1 string and was found in early American blues. Strickland was respectable around Como for his flexibility and commitment to early blues that was generally noticeable in his playing. In the ’80s, Strickland was focused on a nursing house after a significant car crash and he passed away on July 22, 2001.
