Monsters of Folk

Monsters of Folk were formed across the skills of indie rock and roll giants Conor Oberst and Mike Mogis (Bright Eye), M. Ward (She & Him), and Jim Wayne (My Morning Coat). Conceived in 2004, the task gradually shaped out of on-stage collaborations and backstage hootenannies as the four music artists had been on tour using their particular bands and single projects. The people of the cheekily entitled “supergroup” will come from folk backgrounds, but their design falls squarely in the “traditional rock and roll” camp. Known for switching personas and tools in the drop of the hat throughout their stage displays, Monsters of Folk released their self-titled debut recording on Sept 22, 2009.
