The aptly named solo project of former Whirr member and Ruler Woman vocalist Kristina Esfandiari, Miserable’s intense shoegaze turns anguish into something beautiful. Esfandiari debuted Miserable in 2013 having a break up 7″ with Gray Zine on Work for Cover Information, then released a set of singles in 2014 (February’s Halloween Desire and August’s Doggie Times) that extended around the project’s passionately weighty yet ethereal audio. Two years later on, Esfandiari returned using the full-length Uncontrollable, that was influenced by the increased loss of a close companionship.
