Mike Reed

Drummer and composer Mike Reed was created in Biclefeld, Germany, in 1974 but spent the majority of his years as a child developing up in Evanston, IL, just north of Chicago. Still located in Chicago, Reed is a big component of this city’s lively jazz scene, using the Treehouse Task, the David Boykin Expanse, Rob Mazurek’s Exploding Celebrity Orchestra, as well as the Josh Berman Quartet, among additional groups, aswell as leading his personal bands Loose Set up and Mike Reed’s People, Locations & Issues. He continues to be involved in several Chicago recording tasks, while under his personal name liberating In the Framework Of in 2006, Last Year’s Ghost in 2007, and Proliferation as well as the Speed of Modification in 2008, all for the 482 Music imprint. In 2001 he founded the Growing Improvisers Corporation, a non-profit group that sponsors a every week group of jazz and improvised music shows in the town.
