Michael Paulo

Michael Paulo is an excellent saxophonist that has so far mostly played within the pop/jazz crossover field. Paulo was raised within a musical family members (his dad was a pianist and his mom a vocalist) but didn’t use up the saxophone until he was 15. He created quickly and before he still left senior high school was playing gigs around Hawaii. After graduation, Paulo joined up with the Hawaiian pop/rock and roll music group Kalapana (1975-79), documenting four albums using the group. He also documented with Herbie Hancock during this time period. Paulo was a active studio room musician in Hawaii when he shifted to LA in 1981. He used Ray Armando, with an area r&b music group and in 1983 joined up with Al Jarreau’s touring music group, dealing with the vocalist for ten years. In 1989 Michael Paulo documented his first time as a head (apart from an earlier established for japan Trio label), One Interest (MCA) that was a strong vendor. He provides since documented pop-jazz schedules for GRP and Noteworthy and caused Patti Austin, David Benoit, Johnny Mathis and many more, focusing on his single career lately.
