Mel Holder

New York-based saxophonist Mel Holder makes uplifting modern gospel-jazz that also finds him weaving in R&B, African, and Caribbean sounds. Blessed in Queens, NY to a family group of Panamanian descent, Holder overcame asthma in his youngsters to go after his imagine playing the saxophone. A Christian musician, Holder provides released many spiritually willing albums including Today & Forever (1999), Present So Particular (2005), as well as the Stellar Award-nominated Music Reserve, Vol. 1 (2008). In 2015, Holder’s follow-up, Back again to Essentials: Music Reserve, Vol. II, charted in the very best 20 of both Billboard gospel and jazz albums graphs.
