Using a wry, undulating smoothness, millennial rapper Allday (given birth to Tom Gaynor) got his break with a set of radio hits in his home country of Australia in 2014. “AT THIS TIME” and “You Generally Understand the DJ” had been included on his debut record, Startup Cult, but at that time, he had currently dropped several mixtapes (and slipped out of artwork college and a punk music group) and opened up for Lily Allen. His lyrics — a variety of authentic, bittersweet storytelling and younger shenanigans — flowed having a cadence similar to ’90s American East Coastline rap. In 2015, he released the woozy Soft Grunge Like Rap mixtape and authorized with Wind-Up Information. In 2017 Allday released his much expected sophomore full-length, Speeding, which presented guest places from fellow Aussies Japanese Wallpaper, Mallrat, and Nyne.
