Magical Strings

Classical, folk, jazz and Celtic music are combined in to the atmospheric sounds of Seattle-based duo, Magical Strings. Although their agreements middle around Celtic harp and hammered dulcimer, Magical Strings makes their music stand out by adding a world-wide sampling of various other musical instruments. Magical Strings represents the joint initiatives of couple, Philip and Pam Boulding. Since conference when Pam was students within a hammered dulcimer trained by Phillip in 1978, the Bouldings possess continued to build up their unique audio. Wedded since 1980, the Bouldings possess collaborated on nine albums including Islands Contacting that was released in 1996 and highlighted guest performances by cellist Eugene Friesen, guitarist Alex di Grassi, Hawaiian slack-key guitarist Keola Beamer, Western world African kora participant Moussa Kanoute and Irish piper Tom Creegan. The Ann Arbor, Michigan-raised kid of school professors, writers and tranquility activists, Philip Boulding examined traditional violin at age six. Switching to your guitar, at age twelve, Boulding became effective in building his personal stringed tools. After hearing a hammered dulcimer record, Boulding was influenced to create and figure out how to perform his personal hammered dulcimer. Soon after shifting to Seattle in 1974, Boulding was launched to the Celtic harp. Planing a trip to Ireland and Scotland, he obtained a firm knowledge of the harp. Boulding offers improved his musical abilities through private research in traditional and jazz harp, the Russian cymbalom as well as the Western African kora in addition to classes in the Boston Conservatory and Ethno-Musicology classes in the University or college of Washington. Pam Boulding analyzed piano at age four, although, she well balanced her like of music with an gratitude of artwork. She gained an undergraduate level in painting, sculpture and artwork background from Pitzer University in southern California. Pursuing her graduation, Boulding trained artwork and music at Western Coast schools and founded a summer months art college for kids in Maine, where she acquired spent her summers as a young child.
