Leon Rausch

Referred to as “the tone of voice” of Bob Wills & His Texas Playboys, Leon Rausch was created Oct 2, 1927, in Missouri. Edgar Leon Rausch grew up within a musical family members and started playing guitar along with his dad at regional dances as a kid and continuing through his high-school years. Upon graduation, Rausch became a member of the armed forces and played on / off with local rings until he shifted to Tulsa in 1955. Rausch received his initial big break with an appearance in the Louisiana Hayride the next season, and on St. Patrick’s Time 1958 he was asked to become listed on Bob Wills & His Tx Playboys, changing vocalist Glynn Duncan. Rausch’s stint with Wills lasted in to the early ’60s. Then briefly became a member of Johnnie Lee Wills’ music group before developing his very own group, the brand new Tx Playboys, in Fort Well worth, TX. From the past due ’60s the music group had made an appearance on Cowtown Jamboree and released several singles without very much fanfare. In 1973, an ailing Wills approached Rausch about rejoining his Tx Playboys on what will be Wills’ last record, Going back Time. Pursuing Wills’ loss of life in 1975, Rausch and the initial Texas Playboys continuing to record and play gigs, including a high-profile appearence on Austin Town Restricts. In 1983 Rausch experienced slowed up his working speed but continuing to be a part of tasks that interested him, including Asleep in the Wheel’s Tribute towards the Music of Bob Wills using the group that became the Playboys II. Since that time, Rausch has created a publication co-authored by Dr. John E. Perkins Jr. entitled Leon Rausch…The Tone of voice from the Texas Playboys about his time with Wills.
