Le Grande Kalle

b. Joseph Kabasele Tshamala, 1930, Matadi, Zaire, d. 11 Feb 1983, Paris, France. The daddy of contemporary Zairean music, Kalle’s first musical experiences had been as an associate of the cathedral choir in his city of Matadi. Shifting to Kinshasa in 1950, he caused Orchestre De Tendence Congolaise, a music group that specific in acoustic polka and mazurka rhythms, produced from records taken to the united states by colonial settlers.
