Laura Gibson

A native of the tiny rural Oregon town of Coquille, singer-songwriter and classically trained cellist Laura Gibson is area of the Pacific Northwest folk-pop picture that centers around the Portland-based indie label Hush Information, formerly the house from the Decemberists. Previous Decemberists drummer Rachel Blumberg takes on on Gibson’s 1st two albums, 2006’s IN THE EVENT THAT YOU Go to Greet Me and 2009’s Beasts of Months; fellow Oregon singer-songwriters Shelley Brief and Laura Veirs sing support vocals within the second option. Her third studio room outing, La Grande, that was named to get a Northeastern, Oregon city referred to by Gibson as a location that “people generally pass through on the way to someplace else, but which includes a particular gravity, a wondering energy”, found its way to early 2011.
