Biography
An excellent pop-jazz keyboardist, trumpeter, and popular attraction in the “modern jazz” circuit, Kim Pensyl has recorded an extended string of best-selling pieces for such brands as Optimism, GRP, and Shanachie. In early stages he played a number of equipment, including trumpet, from age group 12 and electrical bass within a rock and roll group before buying keyboards. Pensyl went to Ohio State School, using the OSU jazz music group. After earning a qualification in the Eastman College of Music and participating in Cal Condition Northridge, Pensyl proved helpful in the LA area with a multitude of rings including those led by Al Hirt, Don Ellis, Hubert Laws and regulations, Gerald Wilson, and Louie Bellson; he also performed trumpet with Man Lombardo. Over time of studio function, in 1988 (when he started his solo profession and documented his first established as a head) Pensyl acquired his style jointly, playing what could possibly be known as atmospheric lite jazz. Released in 1988, 1989, and 1990, Pensyl Sketches, Vol. 1, Vol. 2, and Vol. 3 all marketed quite nicely; the former two pieces were documented with Pensyl because the just musician. Through the remainder from the ‘90s and in to the brand-new millennium, Pensyl started throwing several curve balls at his listeners, including 1993’s piano-synth vacation outing A Kim Pensyl Xmas; 1996’s Beneath the Impact, with Pensyl interpreting a few of his pop and R&B favorites; 1998’s Calm Cafe, which brought his trumpet playing even more towards the fore; and 2001’s At this time, which present Pensyl dealing with the mantle of trumpeter a lot more highly, in a difficult bop environment. Released in 2008, When Katie Smiles highlighted Pensyl on the Steinway for a couple of simple jazz-influenced originals.
