Keep Shelly in Athens

With an air of mystique, Greece-based Keep Shelly in Athens (a pun on Kypseli, the Athens neighborhood they comes from) combine ambient bedroom electro-pop, chillwave, and Ibiza house music influences to make a uniquely somber undertake downtempo dream pop. The young man/lady duo of R? Я and Sarah P. created this year 2010; their debut EP, Deeply in love with Dusk, premiered by Forest Family members, the label operate by Gorilla vs. Carry and Regular Tape Deck, and it became a blog page hit. It had been adopted in 2011 by OUR VERY OWN Desire, a 12″ EP on a single label, and cassettes on Sixteen Tambourines Information and Loud and Calm Cassettes (the second option being a break up EP having a then-unknown Disclosure) also showed up that 12 months. World Mu released the group’s third vinyl fabric EP, Campus Martius, in the 12 months’s end. The group started touring internationally having a four-piece lineup, including an appearance in the 2012 Coachella event, and gathered a profile of remixes and visitor looks, including reworks or collaborations with Tycho, Porcelain Raft, and MMOTHS. Forest Family members reissued the duo’s 1st two EPs as an LP in 2012, plus they authorized with Cascine Information for the discharge of their appropriate debut album, IN THE HOME, which found its way to 2013. In January of 2014, vocalist Sarah P. announced her departure from Maintain Shelly in Athens; 8 weeks later on, Myrtha became the group’s fresh vocalist. The retooled lineup’s 1st recording was NOW I AM Prepared, released in Oct of 2015 from the Los Angeles-based Close friends of Close friends label.
