Joseph ‘Jo Jo’ Williams

b. 1920, Coahoma, Mississippi, USA. Among a legion of music artists whose name and record follow each other with Pavlovian precision, Williams performed in rings whose members occasionally caused better-known artists. Elevated in north-west Mississippi and on the outskirts of Memphis, his 1st guidelines in music had been with baling cable strung in the wall. Through the 30s he observed Son Home and Willie Dark brown playing for nation suppers. He created his guitar-playing in Memphis in the first 40s before shifting to Chicago. In 1953 he performed his initial professional gig, with pianist Lazy Costs Lucas. 2 yrs later, Williams produced his very own group with Lucas, drummer Johnny Swanns and Lucas’ niece, ‘Miss Hi Fi’, performing. Then teamed up with harmonica participant Mojo Buford within a music group with Dave Associates and Cadillac Sam Burton. With Buford, he joined up with Muddy Waters’ Junior Music group, playing Smitty’s Part when Waters was out of city. In 1959, he produced two information, the initial unnumbered, for the Atomic-H label. ‘All Quite Wimmens’ epitomizes raucous, impromptu blues at its greatest, all of the better to be obscure, as was the follow-up, ‘Afro Tremble Dance’. In 1962, he transferred, with Lucas and Buford, to Minneapolis, playing bass in an organization that documented as Mojo AS WELL AS THE Chi Fours, the materials released on Folk Artwork and Vernon. 2 yrs later, the music group acquired two singles released on Adell. Williams documented with Lazy Costs for Lucas’ very own label in 1970, and retired from music time in the 70s.
