Joseph Hellmesberger

Hellmesberger was a formidable instructor and violinist with such college students while Auer, Brodsky, Rappoldi as well as the Schrammel brothers. In the Vienna Conservatory he analyzed violin along with his dad and became a soloist at age seventeen. From 1851 to 1859 he brought the novice Gesellshaft der Musikfreunde to prominence. By 1860 Hellmesberger was the Konzertmeister at Hofoper, in 1879 the movie director of the performers from the Gesellschaft der Musikfreunde and, previously in 1877 the Hofkapellmeister in Vienna. With Durst, Heissler and Schlesinger he performed in The Hellmesberger String Quartet carrying out numerous functions and premieres. As an orchestra innovator and performer, especially his technique and beauty, Hellmesberger was extremely praised.
