Hexenhaus

Universally acclaimed because of its unequaled profusion of quality death metal bands through the entire 1990s, Sweden curiously yielded hardly any worthwhile contributions towards the thrash metal wave that straight preceded it within the ’80s — Hexenhaus being one particular rarities. Produced in Stockholm, in 1987, the group was helmed by guitarist Mike Wead (true name Mikael Wikström) and debuted in 1988 using the extremely technical and amazingly achieved A Tribute to Insanity record, also offering vocalist Nicklas Johansson, guitarist Rick Meister (aka Andreas Hand), bassist Jan Blomqvist, and drummer Ralph Raideen. All however the last mentioned acquired previously been associated with Wead within the quickness metal action Maninnya Edge, but none continued to be by the discharge of Hexenhaus’ 1990 sophomore LP, The Advantage of Eternity, getting changed with Marco A. Nicosia (electric guitar), Marty Marteen (bass), Billy St. John (drums), and Tommie Agrippa (vocals). Wead shook stuff up again prior to the discharge of 1991’s Awakening, securing the providers of vocalist Thomas Lundin and previous Mezzrow bassist Conny Wallin; but these continuous changes acquired slowly compromised the grade of Hexenhaus’ result, plus they disbanded a short while afterwards, with 1997’s Dejavoodoo record being the consequence of a one-off reunion. Within the interim, Mike Wead got founded Memento Mori with ex-Candlemass vocalist Messiah Marcolin, performed on Candlemass bassist Leif Edling’s Abstrakt Algebra task, and would later on continue to record and tour with both Mercyful Destiny and Ruler Diamond’s music group — a genuine axe-hero for hire. A lot of the music artists who handed through Hexenhaus also continued to be energetic in Sweden’s extremely incestuous metal picture, especially guitarist Marco A. Nicosia, who installed with melodic techno-metallers Fifth Cause.
