Henri Renaud

Henri Renaud gained a solid popularity in the 1950s, organizing and performing on dates numerous best American jazzmen who have been going to France. Renaud began for the violin when he was five, switching to piano 3 years afterwards. After shifting to Paris in 1946, Renaud used tenor saxophonist Jean-Claude Fohrenbach’s group, associated such players as Don Byas, Adam Moody, and Roy Eldridge during 1949-1950. In 1952 he come up with his own music group, which at differing times caused Lester Little, Sarah Vaughan, and Clifford Dark brown. Brown recorded thoroughly with Renaud in 1953. In 1954 Renaud visited america and made some information (creating and playing piano) with such best American greats as Milt Jackson, J.J. Johnson, Al Cohn, Oscar Pettiford, Utmost Roach, Frank Foster, and Bob Brookmeyer; a lot of the information were released for the Vogue or Golf swing labels. Renaud stopped at NY in 1959 (using Philly Joe Jones) but shortly came back to Paris, where he caused Kenny Clarke and Buck Clayton. In 1964 he became the top of French CBS’ jazz department and began creating displays for radio and tv, and he generally ceased playing piano, staying active as an archive producer for many years.
